Camp Kesem at University of Iowa

Camp Kesem is an active community throughout the United States, driven by college students, supporting children through and beyond their parent or guardian's cancer. Camp Kesem's main focus is putting on a summer camp for kids whose parents or guardians have or have had cancer. The camp is completely free to the children and put on solely by the college students that double as counselors, programming staff, and administration staff. Since 2000, when it was founded, Camp Kesem has expanded to over 100 active chapters. This summer (2018), the University of Iowa will be hosting its second camp from June 3rd through June 9th at Camp Little Cloud in Epworth, Iowa. Our goal this year is to provide camp for 40 kids across the state of Iowa and the surrounding states!

Camp Kesem at the University of Minnesota

Camp Kesem at University of Minnesota is a national nonprofit organization that supports children through and beyond a parent's cancer by providing a free week of summer camp and year round support for our Kesem families. The camp is run by college students with the support of other national (adult) Camp Kesem advisors. Our cabins are split up into four units by age, with the youngest being 6 and going all the way up to 18. Anyone who is interested can sign up at If the camp is full they can still sign up for the waitlist which will put them higher on next year's admission list. Additionally, while it is not guaranteed, we often pull many campers off of the waitlist.
