Water. It impacts our everyday lives. It determines our path to get from here to there and makes the magic of a day on the lake possible. Over 3 morning sessions, this place-based educational workshop gives participants the opportunity to learn about and celebrate the importance water in our lives and engages them in the ancient craft of weaving.
We will learn the basics of weaving and patterns by weaving lake-themend paper placemats, then upcycle denim to create watery “mug rug” coasters and finish with a variety of yarns and a custom-designed "wavy weaving" shuttle to weave a unique “water wall hanging.”
Participants will take home:
> Knowledge about water, weaving and Lake Minnetonka.
> An Investigation Guide with rich water-related facts and instructions to create simple home-made looms and projects to extend the creating
> Yarn needles and a custom designed “water weaver” that can be used to create “wavy” weaving on future projects
> Their paper-woven placemats, 1-4 fabric “mug rug” coasters and wall hanging
