At Northern Starz, we celebrate the transformative power of theater, music, and dance. Our mission is to partner with the community and families to provide innovative, diverse, and quality performing arts education. All are welcome here, and we invite you to join us in our journey of creativity and expression.

Our History

Founded in 2012 as an educational theater, Northern Starz was created to bring the theater experience to young students in the north suburban area of the Twin Cities. What began as an informal organization, has evolved into a vibrant center for the performing arts. Our guiding mantra, "you learn theater by doing theater," shapes our approach to education, ensuring that students are actively involved in nearly every aspect of theatrical production. From acting and stage management to technical roles like lighting design, we offer hands-on opportunities for growth and creativity. Looking ahead, we aim to expand our offerings through our Conservatory Program to include playwriting and directing, enriching the learning experience for our students.

• 6-12th Grade Conservatory Programming

• Penguin Programming: Programs featuring individuals with special needs

• Year-Round Classes and Productions for Pre-K through 5th graders

• Willow Tree Project: Where individuals aged 55+ write, direct, and perform their own shows
