Did you know Lakes have codes? In this workshop we decode buoys, navigational lighting and nautical flags and have an artist talk with Karen Rose who paints the bridges of Lake Minnetonka. We will build our own LEGO representations of scenes around the Lake including: buoys, bridges, boats and more, weave a nautical flag into a bookmark, and create our own mixed media lake scene.
Participants will take home:
> Knowledge of water navigation and safety and the language of nautical flags
> An Investigation Guide with weaving techniques and a color wheel, buoy identification sticker, keys to the nautical flags and other helpful nautical navigation and water safety resources
> Their LEGO® scene including buoys, a bridge, boats and more
> Their woven bookmark incorporating the flag or symbol of their choice
> Their mixed media artistic piece
Themes: Lake Navigation and Water Safety, Visual/Studio Art, Fiber Arts, STEM
