In the Heart of the Beast Puppet & Mask Theatre announces a new showcase, presented by The Fox and Beggar Theater, VANAHEIMR: Stories of the Lesser coming to The Avalon Theater November 30 – December 9.
Long ago, people inhabited the region we know as Scandinavia worshipping gods that have since been forgotten, as they too have been. But perhaps small remnants of these gods survived in the myths of the early Norse. Vanaheimr is a place of deep beauty, forests, lakes, and rivers. This old world was colonized by the Æsir. Now, the Vanir have been summoned to fight alongside their colonizers.
VANAHEIMR: Stories of the Lesser will be a fusion of classical poetry, shadow puppetry, live Nordic folk music, and contemporary dance, set within a dark winter forest. Due to heavy themes and depictions of violence, VANAHEIMR is recommended for ages 12 and up.
