Every second Saturday of the month from 9am - noon, the Gallery Navarre Artists Guild hosts "Saturday in the Art Lab," sessions for young creatives (grades K-5, pre-registration required).
Creative Workshops (see details below) are grounded at the intersection of place-based education and creativity. A collaborative effort of a professional Social Studies & Technology educator and local artists, each session offers new opportunities to explore a different aspect of Lake Minnetonka/the region and to create something new.
Join us this May 10 for a splashy good time as we explore the fascinating fish that call Lake Minnetonka (and Minnesota Lakes) home, then let our imaginations swim wild as paper engineers - creating pop-up cards featuring fish and fishing - perfect for Fathers Day too! We will have a splashy good time sharing these aquatic creatures in full color!
Participants will take home:
* Knolwedge about the fish in Lake Minnetonka and Minnesota Lakes and the role of fisheries management
* An exploration of 3-D pop-up mechanics
* 2+ hours of dedicated creation time
* A Gallery Walk for participants to share their work with parents/guardians/special persons for the last 10 minutes of each workshop
* A take-home "investigation guide" with resources about Minnesota's fish and links to ebooks and resources focused on 3-D mechanics
Themes: Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota Fish, Paper Engineering
