Pop-Up DeLiGhTs!
with Olli Johnson
Mondays: August 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; 2-3pm CDT
For youth ages 9-12
Join artist instructor Olli Johnson and learn how to create 3-dimensional figures that jump off the page! Each week, we will tackle a different pop-up technique, many of which use templates to help build confidence in this new and exciting skill.
You’ll learn how to make landscape scenes, self-portraits, birds, and enchanted dragons. Once you learn a technique, you can experiment on your own and share with the group what you’ve made! Our final project on August 31 will be open-ended to allow you to create a pop-up scene of your choice.
Most of the materials you need to get creative in the comfort of your own home will be provided – you can pick them up at Open Book in downtown Minneapolis the week before the workshop starts. In addition to the provided materials, you will need to have the following tools on hand: pencil, scissors, 8 paperclips, glue stick, and a bonefolder or alternative (a tongue depressor, ruler, popsicle stick, etc. can be used as a bonefolder alternative).
