More Details:
- He’s sometimes called “the father of new-age music,” but George Winston prefers to think of his style as “rural folk piano.”
- Winston’s albums December and Winter into Spring both went Platinum (million-plus sales in the United States).
- The range of his music is extraordinary including everything from holiday classics to The Doors—all in the inimitable George Winston style.
- Winston’s Orchestra Hall performance will include some of Vince Guaraldi’s timeless tunes from the Peanuts® cartoon shows...Good grief! (and great music).
- If you listen closely, you can hear all these influences in George Winston’s music: Floyd Cramer, Booker T and The MGs, Professor Longhair and the Ventures.
- You may know George strictly as a pianist...but he’s also an ace harmonica player and an ardent devotee of the Hawaiian style known as slack-key guitar.
Please note: The Minnesota Orchestra does not perform on this program.
