Our journey will begin at Bde Maka Ska North Beach where we'll get fitted in provided personal floatation devices, learn basic paddling skills, and get settled into Wilderness Inquiry 10-person canoes. Each canoe will have one Wilderness Inquiry outdoor leader to guide the boat. Once on the water, we'll sing and paddle together through Bde Maka Ska, Lake of the Isles, and Cedar Lake with our eyes open for wildlife. Once we reach Cedar Lake Point Beach, we'll pull over onto the shore for a story time led by Wild Rumpus booksellers Heather and Bo themed around water and nature. After the reading, browse the Wild Rumpus pop-up store on the beach to take home a few nature and wildlife books. We'll enjoy a rest and picnic lunch together on the beach before heading back onto the water to return to Bde Maka Ska North Beach.
This event is perfect for families with children weighing 30 lbs and up. All children must have an adult guardian. We encourage you to bring sunscreen, water, snacks, and a picnic lunch. No canoeing experience is necessary. Register to reserve your family's spots today!
