*The event has already taken place on this date: Tue, 06/23/2020
Sea star wasting syndrome has impacted sea star populations along the west coast of North America. Join Science Specialist Stena for an interactive, Facebook LIVE lesson to learn more about sea star wasting syndrome and join us for a virtual sea star survey. Gather up the supplies below beforehand, and tune in at 2pm on Harbor WildWatch's main Facebook page. Interaction highly encouraged!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Supplies:
- Paper
- Pencils
- Ruler

During this event, you can collect some data with Harbor WildWatch. You can use the supplies above to either draw the different seastars species or make a chart to tally the total number of different species we observe, their size, and level of disease.

Bonus opportunity - use the information we collect to practice making a graph and feel free to share it with us when you're all done.

Our data is submitted to UC Santa Cruz - if you'd like to learn more this is a great resource: https://marine.ucsc.edu/data-products/sea-star-wasting/

We are in this together! Every week, Harbor WildWatch will offer three free, educational videos. These videos will be a combination of livestreams and pre-recorded workshops that explore our natural environment, provide STEM learning opportunities, and offer activity ideas for at-home learning.

Tune into our Facebook and YouTube channels on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays to catch our biologists providing fun educational videos for all ages. Note that a Facebook account is not required to view any videos on Facebook.
