About the Workshop
In this workshop students will learn and practice paper-cutting techniques resulting in a unique Valentine’s card! After a short introduction, Artuta instructor Kosuke will demonstrate paper-cutting techniques and show examples of the possibilities for the card. Students will embark on their own creations, while being encouraged to experiment and discover their own take on the technique. To wrap up, students will have the opportunity to share their cards with the class, reflect on what they observed, and upload images of their cards to the Artuta Online Art Galleryso everyone can see!
*This class is for ages 7–9.

Artuta is an online art school for kids ages 4–12 featuring classes taught by working, professional artists in NYC. Our student-centered teaching methodology fosters creativity, concentration and problem-solving. Through the use of examples and by working along with instructors, students will naturally become familiar with lines, shapes, colors, materials and creative concepts.
While students are welcome to follow along with the instructor, we encourage them to explore their freedom in adapting class concepts to their own ideas, interests and personalities. Class sizes remain small, only admitting up to five students, in order to cultivate engagement and interactivity. Most of our students come to us from the Eastern Time Zone, which means in addition to becoming a young artist, our students form relationships with children from all over the world!
Coming up at Artuta
Artuta’s Winter 2023 session kicks off March 5th, focusing on drawing, collage, watercolor, and bookmaking. Step-by-step instruction enables young artists to employ simple art making methods towards increasingly complex works–leading up to a final project in week six. In addition to an expanded skill set, students will come away with a deeper relationship with their artistic practice, as each Artuta class ends with time devoted to discussion and reflection about the artwork.
There will be activities where your child will be required to cut paper or objects with scissors, which will require extra supervision. Please do not leave any child unattended while scissors or sharp objects are present. Artuta cannot be held liable for any harm or injury that takes place during its classes.
This class may be monitored or recorded for quality assurances purposes. Only screen recording of instructors may be used for marketing purposes. Your continued participation in this class as express consent to be monitored or recorded.
