MITY's mission is to inspire and challenge intellectually curious students to pursue their passions within a diverse, inclusive community and empower them by building skills and relationships for lifelong success. We provide unique classes that enable students to learn about topics not generally taught in school, and our hands-on approach makes learning engaging and exciting. Small class sizes, field trips and guest speakers all contribute to our dynamic environment. Students take one class for two weeks and enjoy midday recreation activities on Macalester College's beautiful campus. Students are invited to attend one or two in-person sessions each summer and have the option to commute or live in Macalester’s dorms. Sample 2023 classes include: Chemistry of Medicine, Songwriting, Philosophy, Astrophysics, Advanced Argumentation, Studio Art, Engineering and Design, Improv, and Creative Writing.
