The Master Apprentice Teen Camp is for 7th grade/age 13 and up from 9am-3pm Monday-Thursday, June 15-18. This camp is offered for the older camper who wants to continue their apprenticeship with more hands-on experience in the buildings, being immersed in village history and life in the early 1900s. Step back in time and build on your Junior Apprenticeship skills and activities knowledge, and have fun in 1900 Dakota City!
Junior Apprentice camp is offered to children ages 6 – 12, 9am-3pm, Monday-Thursday, June 22-25 and July 13-16. Elementary aged children will experience life in the 1900s by visiting many of the buildings in our village. They will have a chance to participate in daily chores and life activities of 1900 such as learning lessons in a country school, helping with household chores, and doing some of the crafts of the time. They will also have fun playing vintage games and dressing in old-fashioned clothes. Each day is different, will build on the preceding one, and continue projects and learning.
Try-It camp is for children ages 5-9, offered one day, June 30 or July 10. Half day from 9am-12:30pm or 11:30am-3pm for $35, full day from 9am-3pm for $50. Children will experience an introduction to our Village with hands-on activities in different buildings. The morning will be different from the afternoon for a full day of adventures.
The theme in this election year is "Government and Suffragettes". Campers will experience life in 1900 during an election year as they learn about government, suffragettes and the men who supported them. They will explore the effect suffragette issues had on women’s lives and discover the importance of voting to allow everyone an equal voice. Always fun are the vintage games to play and hands-on activities to do. Each day is different but builds on knowledge and accomplishments from the previous day.
All campers must have their own transportation to Dakota City. They must bring their own lunch and water bottle each day. All supplies, snack at the end of the day, and staff provided by Dakota City. Space is limited; register through Farmington, Northfield, Rosemount or Lakeville Community Educations by June 5.
