Tech Fest gathers corporations, educational institutions and other nonprofits working in engineering and technology to share their work and inspire kids. Together, we encourage kids to keep asking those questions and to pursue their passions for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
With kid-friendly demonstrations such as using K’Nex and shake tables to explore how civil engineers make buildings safe during earthquakes, medical technology using a life-sized operation game and licorice, color-changing jewelry and more, this science and technology fair appeals to everyone. It’s a fun indoor winter family activity.
One fan favorite is always The Works Museum’s own Tech Take-Apart. This hands-on activity encourages kids to dismantle and learn about “the guts” of machines and electronics. With goggles and steady hands, kids disassemble and explore computer towers, stereo equipment, hard drives, and all sorts of other treasures. We are grateful to Dynamic Recycling for donating machines for Tech Take-Apart. Visit our Explore It! page for upcoming Tech Take-Apart dates.
