Theme of the Week: Creature Feature
Our animals are ready for their close-ups! Each day of camp take a closer look at our animals and use those clues to identify who’s who. Once found, figure out how these fantastic features help these creatures thrive and survive.

Monday, March 26 – I Only Have Eyes for You. Test your ability to detect whose eyes are whose. Two eyes or eight, these animal eyes are really great! Meet our raptors and discover why raptor vision can’t be beat.

Tuesday, March 27 – The Nose Knows. Can you sniff out these snouts? Some animals are super scent detectors. Many others are used for more than just smelling. Check out some of the most shockingly strange animal schnozes and you will be surprised at what they can do!

Wednesday, March 28 – Claws and Paws. Animal feet are neat! They can be like flippers or snowshoes, high heels or cleats. Taste, dig a tunnel, or catch a fish with your feet? Explore the cool ways animals use their fancy feet!

Thursday, March 29 – Heads or Tails. Have you ever wished you had a tail? How would you use it? Would it be long or short, bushy or flat? Investigate the many types and uses of tails.

Friday, March 30 – Spots, Stars, and Stripes. The forest can be a blur of color and patterns, from spots and stripes to multi-colors  and polka-dots. We’ll solve the mystery of why animals look the way they do and see how many we can spot throughout the Zoo.

Theme of the Week: Dr. Seuss, A Zoo for You and You!
We will bring the wild and wacky world of the Cat in the Hat’s library book series to life by reading a different book each day about animals and their habitats.  Dr. Seuss’ Lorax will be our host as we explore his lessons about caring for the world and its creatures. Use your sleuthing skills and do a special Dr. Seuss scavenger hunt. You could not, would not, want to miss a camp like this!

Monday, March 26 – Meet the Lorax! While reading Dr. Seuss’ book The Lorax we will discover what’s happening with the Truffula Trees, meet the Lorax’s animal and tree friends, explore what real trees do for us, and why we should appreciate them. Creep through the Minnesota Trail and meet some of the creatures that use trees that may live in your own backyard.

Tuesday, March 27, 2018 – Unbearably Fun! Meet the Lorax’s bear friends the “Bar-ba-loots” and other bears around the world. Visit the brown bears of Russia’s Grizzly Coast as well as the animals of the Northern Trail. Play some games galore! Play a bear game by collecting all the food you can. End the day playing a Dr. Seuss game and toddle with a trick-a-ma-stick.

Wednesday, March 28, 2018 – Bird Brains Unite. It’s all about the Lorax’s friends the “Swomee-Swans” and other birds today. What kinds of eggs and nests do birds make? Investigate different beaks and feet and explore how these adaptations help birds to survive.  Fly with the birds at the Bird Show and meet a raptor nose-to-beak after the show. Check out the birds of the Tropics Trail, learn answers to some bird questions with our Clever Catch Beach Ball.

Thursday, March 29, 2018 – Something’s Fishy. Dive right in and have a good time! Meet our resident sharks and other fine fish friends as we explore different watery wildlife and listen to a diver tell us all about fish and tropical reefs during our popular Dive Show. Visit Discovery Bay and touch live sharks and rays. Meet a real live rock star up close; a sea star that is, that sometimes visits rocks. And find out about the Lorax’s Humming-Fish.

Friday, March 30, 2018 – Rockin’ Rainforest. Rock on as we visit the rain forest Tropical Trail and explore this exciting habitat and its animals. Meet a recycling critter up close. Investigate some interesting questions about reptiles with our reptile Clever Catch Beach Ball.

Theme of the Week: Care of Magical Creatures
Explore the world of dragons, unicorns, phoenixes, and more, inspired by the wizardly world of Harry Potter.  Compare these mythical creatures to their real animal counterparts and discover how real animals can have magical traits by meeting live animals, learning about animal care throughout the zoo, and on Friday creating your very own Monster Book of Monsters!  Each day will focus on a different group of animals and provide pages for your book; specific descriptions below.

Monday, March 26, 2018 – Animals Have Class! After discussing how animals are classified into groups, the day focuses on birds.  Make a messenger owl and train it to help reveal a secret message from Hagrid.  Use your eagle eyes to find birds throughout the Zoo, see what Zoo birds eat, and meet a feathered friend.

Tuesday, March 27, 2018 – Mammalia Aparecium! Meet the mammals on the Northern Trail and up-close at the farm, then the secret is revealed behind where Zoo animals sleep at night.  No spells allowed while meeting mammals, but end the day with a rousing game of Immobulus.

Wednesday, March 28, 2018 – Beware of Dragons! Scaly and slimy herpetofauna rule today, with a visit to the reptiles and amphibians on the Tropics and Minnesota Trails, meeting a reptile keeper, and growing like a dragon in a dragon evolution game.

Thursday, March 29, 2018 – No Backbone, No Problem. Invertebrates outnumber all other creatures in our muggle world and have some of the coolest ‘magical’ talents.  Choose your fate and see if you survive as a creature from the marsh, discover where invertebrates hide at the Zoo, collect materials to make a wand, and meet the inspiration for Acromantula.

Friday, March 30, 2018 – Things Are Looking Fishy. Today’s finishing focus is on fish and Discovery Bay.  Go behind-the-scenes, learn about the magic of animal training, and create a Monster Book of Monsters, complete with fur and teeth.
