SPIDERS
Monday, June 12, 10:30-11:45am
These 8-legged critters can be found almost
everywhere from inside our homes to out
in the woods. We will explore the Garden
looking for these sometimes scary creatures,
learn why we shouldn’t be afraid, how they
are different from insects, and how spiders
help people. We will end our morning by
listening to A Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle.
MONARCHS & OTHER BUTTERFLIES
Monday, June 26, 10:30-11:45am
Learn all about our state butterfly – the
Monarch! Find out how these insects start
their lives as tiny eggs and transform from
caterpillars to winged migrators. Make your
own butterfly to take home, explore the
Garden looking for butterflies, and hear the
story Are You a Butterfly? by Judy Allen.
SIX-LEGGED FRIENDS
Monday, August 14, 10:30-11:45am
We’ll go to the prairie and look for all types
of insects – dragonflies, butterflies, beetles,
leaf bugs, stick bugs, and more. Learn why
insects are so important for our flowers.
You will make your own buzzing insect and
listen to a story that is all about insects.
BUSY BEES
Monday, August 28, 10:30-11:45am
Find out what keeps bees so busy and learn
why bees are important to our Garden. We’ll
make a bee craft, go on a bee hike, do a bee
dance and listen to a story by Eric Carle
called The Honeybee and the Robber
