Whenever people and horses are together, safety must always come first. A horse is a big, powerful animal with instincts and a mind of its own. Even the most gentle and well trained horse can be unpredictable. The best way to be safe around horses is to become an educated horse person and establish good safety practices all of the time. This is the main focus of our lesson program. Once a basic understanding of safety and control is established, then a student can progress toward more complex riding skills.

LOOKING TO START RIDING LESSONS WITH US?
Here is what you need to know:
Our group lessons are offered on the hour starting at 5:00, 6:00, & 7:00 P.M. Tuesdays-Fridays, and at 11:00 A.M., 12:00 & 1:00 P.M. on Saturdays. There may be seasonal adjustments made to the lesson schedule. When you sign up for lessons, that time is yours until you wish to change to another time or you decide to cease taking lessons. The expectation is that you will attend every week, and if are unable to attend a certain week you let the office know in a timely manner. We expect our lesson student to arrive 15 minutes early to have time to groom and saddle their horse, and stay for 5 minutes after the lesson to unsaddle.
We do try to limit our lessons to six students to ensure individual attention. Our facility offers an indoor and outdoor arena. So our lesson program runs year round, and rain or shine. However since our indoor arena is not heated, in the winter months lessons may be canceled if the temperatures in the afternoon are 7° or below.
An integral part of our lesson program is ground work; such as leading, grooming, and saddling the horses. The majority of the first lesson will be learning this ground work, taking the time to learn; safety around horses, grooming, saddling, bridling, leading, mounting/dismounting, and how to control a horse while riding. The student will have the opportunity to ride different horses to expand their riding experience.

ABOUT PEEWEES !
Have a young horse-lover who just can’t wait to ride? We offer an introductory lesson program for ages 5 – 7 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays; however, there may be limited options based on the seasons. Classes are one hour long and include grooming, saddling, horse safety and structured riding instruction. On an average week the students spend half the time getting their own horse ready, with the help of the instructor, and the other half in our arena working on their riding skills.
